About Us
Harvest Moon Orchard was started in 1986 when Randy Maguire planted 500 trees. We now have 1000 dwarf and semi-dwarf apple trees including historical varieties such as Wolf River, Scarlet Pippin, Tolman Sweet and Snow as well as favorites like McIntosh, Spartan and Cortland.
Harvest Moon Orchard sits nestled on a southern slope of the Carp Ridge running toward the Carp River and Valley. The slope allows cold air drainage which is important to prevent frost damage to the delicate blossoms in Spring. The rich soil and slope of the ridge have proven ideal for the varieties of apples, pears and plums we grow in this northern climate.
Apples are picked beginning in August and we have a good supply until we close down in December.
We're not just an apple orchard. Early in the season we have fresh from the field tomatoes, onions, sweet and hot peppers, beans and potatoes. Later on we have over 20 varieties of home grown squash, gourds, pumpkins, Indian mini-corn and broom corn stalks for autumn decorating.
Other selections include: Pure apple cider, sparkling cider, frozen apple and pumpkin pies, apple butter, apple syrup, honey and mustard. We have candles, linens, pictures, gnomes, cards, baby gifts, ceramics and much, much more. |
